Stop Snoring Tips and Treatments

Before you can consider the different ways to reduce, or even stop, your snoring, you must first find out why you snore. There are a lot of different conditions that may bring about snoring, and, being aware of your particular condition, will help you in your choice of treatments and /or exercises most beneficial to you as an individual.

Snoring is caused by airflow obstruction of the mouth or nose, whilst sleeping. The most common reason for this is….

  • The narrowing of the airways brought on by assuming a poor sleep posture.
  • Abnormal layout of soft tissues in the throat (including enlarged tonsils or adenoids)

The issues above allow the soft tissues in the throat to relax so much they resonate against each other which results in creating the sounds we identify as Snoring.

Subtle changes in your everyday life can be extremely effective in treating snoring issues and problems.

  • Weight loss coupled with exercising will help to reduce the fatty tissues in the back of the throat, by, building up muscles in your chest, abs and neck, noticeably strengthening your airways allowing for easy, steady breathing practice, whilst sleeping.
  • Avoiding alcohol and tobacco products, or, at least reducing your overall intake of such products, will reduce harmful muscle relaxation in the throat, which is a huge assistance in the prevention of snoring.
  • Assuming the best sleeping position. can be an excellent habit to practice, in your journey to stop snoring.Sleeping on your side, or, keeping your head elevated will help to keep your airways open.Indeed if you can possibly do both at the same time it will dramatically reduce your snoring output.(it takes practice, but, I have achieved this myself)

Whatever you have to do, good sleeping posture will open the airways for extremely efficient breathing helping you to the snoring cure you desire.

If you have tried all, or, most of these lifestyle changes.and have seen no sign of change in your snoring habits, you will have to consider the possibility of a more serious medical condition such as Sleep Apnoea.A visit to your local GP for advice on your snoring problems is advisable, as they will be able to guide you in the best way to help cure your snoring problem.
